Boise Fire Department responded to reports of a small brush fire near Broadway Avenue and westbound Interstate 84 on Monday afternoon, quickly getting the blaze under control according to BFD spokeswoman Char Jackson.
Jackson said officials briefly closed the westbound Broadway exit.
The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m., but first responders had it largely extinguished within half an hour, Jackson said.
Nine units responded to the fire, which burned about four acres. Jackson said crews were taking extra precautions during mop-up to ensure that incoming high winds didn’t cause the fire to reignite.
Never miss a local story.
It wasn’t immediately clear what started the fire. No injuries were reported.
Jackson said BFD has responded to a handful of brush fires in the past few weeks, though that’s not unusual as wildfire season gets underway.
