Idaho, tied with Louisiana, had among the highest tech-job growth rates in the U.S. in 2015, says a new report by CompTia, the Computing Technology Industry Association.
The number of employees working in software development for systems grew to 1,300 in 2015, up 7.1 percent from the year before. Software developers working on applications grew by 5.7 percent to 1,900. Electronics engineers increased by 3.3 percent to 1,400.
The numbers shouldn’t come as a surprise to Treasure Valley tech companies such as CradlePoint and TSheets, which have hired consistently for several years. However, tech employment had been more or less flat as growth in smaller companies offset cutbacks at larger employers such as Micron, which laid off 5,000 workers between 2006 and 2010.
