We published our first Year in Pictures edition a year ago. We received so much positive feedback that it was a natural decision to do it again in 2013.
The following 21 pages display our favorite local business images of the year. The pictures are the work of Idaho Statesman staff photographers Joe Jaszewski, Katherine Jones, Darin Oswald and Kyle Green. The illustration on the final page was drawn by staff artist Patrick Davis, who also is this magazine’s chief designer.
Some of the images were published in Business Insider, some in the daily Statesman, and all online. They remind us that business isn’t just about selling stuff and making money, as vital as those things are. It’s about struggling and thriving, working hard and having fun.
I hope you enjoy viewing these images as much as we enjoy bringing them to you.
Never miss a local story.
As I reported to you last week, this is the final weekly edition of Business Insider. Beginning next month, BI will be published monthly.
To recap briefly: The Statesman will expand BI’s readership by delivering the magazine to all subscribers who get the paper on Wednesdays. The magazine also will be included at no extra charge in newspapers sold in stores and in sidewalk vending boxes on BI’s publication dates. The next edition, with a commercial real estate theme, will be published Wednesday, Jan. 15.
Two colleagues in big roles at this magazine are moving out of them later this month. Kris Rodine is leaving the business-reporting team for the breaking-news staff. Patricia Carson, a news assistant who joined the Statesman in 1995, has compiled BI’s Making Good columns for three years. Each has made a vital contribution to BI. I thank them.
All of us at BI wish you a joyous holiday season.
