Emily Baker, a senior public policy and communications specialist, is joining Gallatin Public Affairs. She is a partner with Baker Pinkerton LLC, a consulting firm in Washington, D.C., and New York. In 2012, she moved with her family back to Idaho after more than a decade of public service and private consulting. Baker has appeared regularly on Fox News and is a contributor to the foreign affairs journal The Diplomatic Courier.
In 2006, Baker was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the regional administrator of the General Services Administration’s Northeast and Caribbean region, a position she held through 2009. She led more than 750 employees across New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and managed a $1.9 billion real-estate portfolio that included 83 government-owned buildings and leased space in 448 commercial buildings.
Previously, Baker served in the administration as deputy director of congressional and intergovernmental affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce and worked for three years at the government affairs and communications firm Barbour Griffith & Rogers.
Baker began her career working in Idaho politics. She was a policy aide to former Gov. Phil Batt while attending Boise State University, worked on the 1998 campaign for Lt. Gov. (now governor) Butch Otter, worked for State Treasurer Ron Crane and served as finance director for the Idaho Republican Party. She is a native of Canyon County.
Faisal Shah is the first recipient of the Boise Young Professionals’ Sage Award, which honors his contributions to the betterment of BYP and the Boise Chamber of Commerce.
Shah is the founder of MarkMonitor, an online brand-protection company that offers anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy products and domain-registration solutions. The company was started in Boise in 1999 and was sold to Thomson Reuters in September 2012.
He is also the founder of First to File Inc., a patent document management system acquired by CPA Global in February. In July 2011, Faisal started AppDetex, a brand protection company that protects intellectual property owners in mobile app stores.
Shah is a former law partner in the Los Angeles office of Pillsbury Madison & Sutro (now known as Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman), one of the nation’s largest law firms. He has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Colorado and a law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He was born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Puerto Rico.
Heather Wheeler, Maurine Collins, Lori Bolen, Carrie Westergard and Erin Cave have been named officers of Leadership Boise for 2013-2015.
Wheeler, president, is the executive director of the Community Transportation Association of Idaho, a nonprofit membership association that coordinates and promotes mobility in Idaho.
Collins, vice president, is the marketing manager for Blue Cross of Idaho, where she is responsible for marketing, advertising, branding and promotional activities. The Leadership Boise vice president leads and coordinates the program’s second-year planning teams, as well as all Leadership Boise sessions.
Bolen, Leadership Boise Academy vice president, has served in numerous roles at Hewlett-Packard over the years. The academy vice president leads and coordinates the academy program for young adults and leads its sessions.
Westergard and Cave, Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce staff members, provide support and direction to the officers.
Leadership Boise, a program of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, is one of the longest-running chamber-sponsored leadership programs in the United States and has graduated more than 1,400 business and civic leaders since its inception in 1976.
Doug Adams and Ethan Delamarter have joined Lyle Pearson Co.
Adams joins the dealership’s management team as finance manager. He has 23 years of mortgage and auto finance experience and was senior loan officer with Waterstone Mortgage and business manager at Larry Miller Dodge, Boise. He is a graduate of Boise State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
Delamarter has joined the dealership’s Mercedes-Benz and Porsche sales team as a sales and leasing consultant. Delamarter has seven years of leasing, apartment management and housing compliance regulation experience with Tomlinson & Associates Inc. in Boise. He graduated from Sessions College for Professional Design, Tempe, Ariz., with a Web design associate’s degree.
Lyle Pearson Co., founded by Lyle Pearson in 1969, represents six luxury-line manufacturers, including Acura, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volvo. The company has been a member of the Better Business Bureau since 1976.
Ballet Idaho has announced the new and returning community leaders to its board of directors. The members join a group led by Board President Chris Privon, Vice President Kathryn Zimmerman and Secretary Christine Nicholas.
Returning board members are: Jane Cliff, Tom DeLorenzo, Lana Hollingshead, Amy Leopard, Cassie McGonegle, Christine Nicholas, Erin Nuxoll Privon, Carla Ranum, Pam Sprute, Monica Walker, Kathy Winterton and Kathryn Zimmerman.
Privon begins his final year of a three-year term as president. He has been actively involved in the strategic vision of the continuing growth of Ballet Idaho and Ballet Idaho Academy.

Stephanie Dockweiler has assumed the role of executive director of the Catholic Charities of Idaho.
With 18 years of management and nursing experience focused on community health, Dockweiler is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Before coming to Catholic Charities of Idaho, Dockweiler served as the health department director in Malheur County, Ore. A member of Holy Apostles Parish in Meridian, she serves on the Parent Advisory Group, helping create programs that assist special needs children through religious education.
Dockweiler will assume the executive director role from interim executive director Sister Arlene Ellis, SSC. Catholic Charities of Idaho is grateful for Sister Arlene’s faithful leadership.
Dave Morris has been named executive director of the Caldwell branch of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA.
Morris comes to Caldwell from the YMCA of Ann Arbor, Mich., where he spent the past five years as senior director of health and wellness. In a news release, the Caldwell Y said Morris’ strengths include fundraising, health and wellness programming, program innovation and working with at-risk populations. He is fluent in Spanish.
The Caldwell Y, located at 3720 S. Indiana Ave., opened its doors in October 2005. The community raised nearly $13.5 million, including support of more than $7.7 million from the city’s Urban Renewal Agency, to build an 84,000-square-foot facility that serves Caldwell and the surrounding areas. Morris began Aug. 19.
Deborah Cavanagh has been appointed senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Coldwater Creek.
Cavanagh will lead Coldwater Creek’s multichannel brand marketing and creative services, reporting to Jill Dean, president and CEO.
Cavanagh has a record of driving growth by implementing authentic and innovative brand building programs, Coldwater Creek said in a news release. Most recently she held the position of senior vice president, brand marketing, at Loft, where she led the repositioning of Loft as a differentiated brand from Ann Taylor Loft. Previously, Cavanagh was the associate publisher, creative services, at Vogue. She has held marketing leadership roles at several industry-leading media brands, including Harper’s Bazaar, Men’s Health, Condé Nast Traveler and Self.
Coldwater Creek is a specialty retailer of women’s clothing, jewelry and accessories. The company was founded in 1984 in Sandpoint and sells its merchandise through retail stores across the country, online and through its mobile applications.
