Dallas has been near the top of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce’s wish list for direct flights available at Boise Airport, chamber CEO Bill Connors said.
That’s because the Treasure Valley’s largest employers travel to Texas for business, and often to Dallas itself.
“Albertsons or WinCo or Micron or HP, you name it, there’s some sort of presence in Texas,” Connors said. “This connection certainly helps those businesses.”
American Airlines will begin daily nonstop service between Boise and Dallas starting June 2. The flight is scheduled to leave Dallas-Fort Worth for Boise at 4:35 p.m. and arrive here at 6:59 p.m. The flight from Boise will leave at 7:06 a.m. and arrive at Dallas-Forth Worth at 11:19 a.m.
The addition gives the Boise Airport 20 nonstop flights and creates single-stop options to reach destinations in Central and South America.
“We’ll be able to do Boise to Panama City in a one-stop trip once Dallas is online, [and] Sao Paulo, Brazil, or Lima, Peru,” Connors said. “This opens up an incredible network.”
Connors still wants a nonstop flight to a city east of Chicago such as New York, Atlanta or Washington, D.C. That is a longstanding chamber goal.
“We’re doing better than many cities of our size for air service,” Connors said. “But we’d love to have that East Coast connection.”
The chamber and airport have also looked into a possible nonstop flight to Calgary, Alberta, he said.
