The engineering company, which rented space in the Treasure Valley for seven years, bought a 16,940-square-foot building at 12754 W. Lasalle St. off Chinden Boulevard.
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is based in Pullman, Wash. SEL designs and builds systems that protect, monitor and control power systems.
The company’s 37 Treasure Valley employees will move into the building in September. Most of the Valley employees work in the company’s Research & Development Division as electrical and software engineers, sales representatives and administrative professionals.
The employee-owned company, founded by Ed Schweitzer in the basement of his Pullman home, now manufactures in Pullman and Lewiston.

Terms of the building sale were not disclosed. The building was previously occupied by SAP, an enterprise application software company.
