The plant, which will be built and operated by PerforMix, will produce liquid livestock feed.
Founded in 1985, PerforMix is the feed arm of Agri Beef, the Boise-based beef feed lot operator, beef processor and beef distributor that employs 1,200 and tallied $1.2 billion in sales in 2014. The company already operates livestock feed and nutrition suppliment plants in Nampa and Fruitland in Idaho as well as in Moses Lake, Wash.
Crews broke ground on Tuesday. When completed, the Rupert plant will take up 6.5 acres of the 10-acre lot and create 15 jobs.
The plant is scheduled to open by the end of 2015.
