Expect a crowd and a fruit cornucopia at the Annual Fruit Field Day Sept. 16 near Parma.
The University of Idaho Pomology Program is hosting the free event at its viticulture orchard and vineyard at 31727 Parma Road, a release said.
Apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, grapes, plums, persimmons and pluots will be among the fruit available for sampling. The event starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Lunch will be available for purchase in addition to free fruit samples.
The orchard is the field laboratory for pomologist Essie Fallahi’s work with apples, stone fruits, pears, Asian pears, table grapes and uncommon fruits and nuts. The event will feature fruit industry commercial booths and discussions of fruit research, production and mechanization.
