A 10-year-old English pointer is recovering from back surgery and chest trauma at WestVet in Garden City Thursday.

The dog fell 270 feet down an abandoned well while bird hunting about 15 miles south of Twin Falls.

A volunteer search and rescue member from the area sent a 150-foot camera down the well Sunday afternoon, but was unable to see any sign of life, WestVet said in a release. The following day rescuers returned to the well with a camera that would reach 300 feet. That's when they saw “Jordan” the dog lift her head.

Some 36 hours later, the dog was pulled out and taken to the Garden City vet clinic for surgery for a broken back. She was in the intensive care unit Thursday.
