The Idaho Steelhead's Booster Club donated $1,500 last week to help young athletes who want to play hockey but whose family can't afford the cost. The scholarships will be managed by Idaho Ice World and Boise City Department of Parks and Recreation through the City's Heritage Trust Fund. You can find information on how to apply for the scholarships at www.idahoiceworld.com.
The booster's group wants this to become an annual donation, said Rocci Johnson, the group's president. For more information about the group go to www.idahosteelheadboosters.org.
