Gov. Butch Otter Wednesday praised the goals of a coalition of business leaders, parents and educators in seeking to beef up Idaho's public education system.
"You know you are on the right track when the teachers and the administrators, the school boards and the parents, the public sector and private industry all come together to focus their collective wisdom, experience and passion on an issue," Otter said.
The group, called the Education Alliance of Idaho, wants to increase the number of high school students going to college, add broadband connectivity to every school in Idaho, toughen math and science instruction, pay teachers in part on students performance, and increase the amont of college credit students can get while still in high school.
