Elmore County Sheriff’s officials say a man died after losing control of his car on Idaho 30 just after 7:20 a.m. Wednesday.
The man has been tentatively identified as a 19-year-old airman with the 366th Fighter Wing of the U.S. Air Force. Both sheriff’s and Air Force officials say they are not releasing his name until family members can be notified.
Sheriff’s officials say the man was driving westbound on Idaho 30 when the car went off the left shoulder of the road. Officials say the man tried to steer the car back onto the road when it rolled over, across both lanes of the highway and over the right shoulder.
The man was ejected from the car, according to sheriff’s reports. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash just before 8:20 a.m., according to reports.
It is unclear whether anyone else was in the car. Deputies are still trying to determine what caused the crash, but alcohol use does not appear to be a factor, officials say.
The man was assigned to the 366th Security Forces Squadron, according to a media release from the Air Force sent out Wednesday.
