Washington Elementary’s new building, 2918 Washington Ave., will be ready for occupancy Friday.

Washington students will have a half-day Friday to help facilitate the move. Their first day in the new energy-efficient school will be Monday.

A public open house party is planned for 2 p.m. Dec. 8 with speakers, performances and refreshments.

The old Washington on Fillmore Street is the second of two outdated Caldwell school buildings to be replaced this year. A new Van Buren Elementary opened Aug. 29.

Both schools are about 70,000 square feet and silver LEED certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System.
