Dylan Chambers, 2, Boise, who wanted to be a fireman for Halloween, glances around at all the other costumes at the YMCA Downtown Halloween Carnival Friday night in Boise. The carnival had games, prizes and fun activities for kids excited about the Halloween holiday. The weather forecast looks favorable for trick-or-treaters tonight with warmer temperatures but there is a 20 percent chance for rain.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Trick-or-treating tonight?

Want to hit the streets before the sun goes down? Sunset will happen at 6:37 p.m.

Send us your cute Halloween pictures

Is your house decorated? Are your children in super-cute costumes? How about Fido and Kitty? Send .jpg photos to onlinenews@idahostatesman.com for an online gallery. All submissions become the property of the Idaho Statesman.

The new community group, Our Kids: Our Business, is remembering Robert Manwill on Halloween with a Valley-wide initiative: encouraging people to take advantage of Halloween's sociable nature to introduce themselves to neighbors and exchange contact information.

For more information about the project, including a link to print your own "Say Hello" poster: http://idahochildrenstrustfund.state.id.us or call the Idaho Children's Trust Fund: 386-9317.

The murder this summer of 8-year-old Robert galvanized many in the community to start working on ways to improve child advocacy - and led to the formation of Our Kids: Our Business.

TRICK-OR-TREAT, AND BRONCOS!

Watch the home team play San Jose State on Saturday on a giant inflatable movie screen and enjoy a free family Halloween party inside Taco Bell Arena. The event is from noon to 3 p.m., including a costume contest, trick-or-treating, games and prizes (kick-off is at 1 p.m.).

Outside food and beverages are welcome. Leave the alcohol home for this one.

HAUNTED HOUSE TO BENEFIT SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Thank the Boise Special Olympics Lions Club for this haunted house, suitable for the whole family, including the youngest members: a ghostly Lady in White guides kids through a spooky house filled with surprises, including a cemetery filled with more live souls than dead ones, and a rat infested dining room. Guess who's coming for dinner?

Come for cider, cocoa, caramel apples and face painting provided by Easter Seals/Goodwill. Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Redline Recreational Toys, 535 N. Locust Grove Rd., Meridian. Children under 12: $3; over 12: $4. One parent is free.

All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Idaho and go directly to sports training, competition, and other initiatives for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Idaho.

This is the first event for the Boise Special Olympics Lions Club, founded during the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.

CAN YOU PASS THE 'FRIGHTENED FELONS' QUIZ?

"Frightened Felons" is an evening of storytelling, costume contests, inmate scavenger hunts, chilling tours and more on Saturday at the Old Pen.

Now, here's a little challenge.

Students in Boise State professor Michael Blankenship's Intro to Criminal Justice class are completing a quiz about the Old Pen. All answers can be found inside the walls.

Here's a sampling: the two questions students answer incorrectly most often:

1. When did Idaho become a state?

2. Who, or what, is buried within the prison walls?

Answers: 1890; Dennis, a pet cat with his own tombstone

"Frightened Felons" 6 p.m. (family time), 7 p.m. (costume contest), 8:30 p.m. (ages 12 and older); $10 adults, $8 kids. Old Idaho Penitentiary, 2445 Old Penitentiary Road, Boise. 334-2844.

Click on the links at the right to take the full quiz and see how you did.
