The Ada County Highway District will open the long-awaited East ParkCenter bridge almost six weeks ahead of schedule Tuesday.

The bridge, which spans the Boise River and connects ParkCenter Boulevard with Warm Springs Avenue, has been under construction for more than a year. The bridge will provide a new route to east Boise from the Warm Springs Avenue area and city officials hope it provides some traffic relief for Warm Springs.

“This beautiful bridge represents the culmination of a community vision for southeast Boise and the Barber Valley, a vital new transportation connection that will benefit the community for decades to come,” ACHD Commission President Carol McKee said Thursday.

Traffic should begin flowing over the bridge following a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

ACHD officials estimate the final cost of the bridge is $20.7 million, but a final figure won’t be known until finishing work is completed in several months. ACHD officials say the actual construction cost is estimated to be $14.8 million — with design, right-of-way acquisition and wetlands mitigation accounting for the remaining costs.
