The Hispanic Business Association has announced 31 recipients of the 2009 HBA Richard G. Cortez Scholarship Fund Awards totaling $30,250.
With this years winners, HBA has awarded over $230,000 to over 300 Hispanic students since 1993, said Kirby Ortiz, HBS scholarship chairman and founder.
Proceeds for the scholarships come from corporate donations and the annual Richard G. Cortez Jalapeno Open Golf Tournament.
This year’s tournament will be held at Falcon Crest Golf Course at 11102 South Cloverdale Road in Kuna. This year scholarship recipients included 15 college students who received awards of $1,250 each and 17 high school students who received $750 apiece. Joe Estrella: 377-6465
