Idaho State Police seized 73 bricks of marijuana — weighing about 165 pounds — in a 2001 Ford pickup Wednesday night.

The Idaho State Police officer who pulled over a truck to check on the possibility for a drunk driver near Pocatello just before midnight Wednesday made a surprise discovery -- 164.73 pounds of marijuana in the back of the truck.

Truck driver Manuel Moreno Ramirez, 30, and passenger Jesus F. Diaz-Pellegaud, 40, both of Nampa, are being held in the Bannock County Jail on drug trafficking charges, according to ISP reports.

"This is a pretty good sized bust," Lt. Ismael Gonzales said Thursday. The street value of the marijuana was estimated by ISP officials to be around $250,000.

The officer pulled over the truck on South Fifth Ave. just before midnight after observing the driver weaving in and out of the lane. The marijuana, packed in 73 bricks, was clearly visible in the back of the truck, according to ISP reports.

Officials said Thursday they do not know where the men were coming from, where they were going, or where the marijuana came from. The men are not cooperating with law enforcement, Gonzales said.
