Timothy Ryan Gilligan, a former guard with the Idaho Department of Correction, is set to begin a jury trial in September after pleading not guilty earlier this week to a charge of having sexual contact with a female inmate. The charges stem from a series of incidents that occurred in April 2007, when Gilligan was working in the maximum security prison, according to Ada County Sheriff's reports.
The female inmate told an IDOC employee about the incidents in December, which led to Gilligan being arrested in March.
The inmate, who was on some kind of inmate worker program, told investigators she had sexual contact with Gilligan three times in 2007.
Female offenders from South Boise Women's Correctional Center, a minimum security facility, sometimes do janitorial work at the maximum security prison.
Gilligan, 28, of Boise, was a wide receiver for the Boise State football team between 2000 and 2003 and also played for a short period of time in the Canadian Football League.
