Police found 1.75 pounds of methamphetamine in a car engine compartment Monday — enough of the drug to make about $75,000 and sell almost 800 one-gram packets.

Police suspect the car’s driver — who was stopped on Interstate 84 about 4:30 p.m. Sunday near the last rest stop before Boise — has been importing this much meth from Arizona every other week.

The driver, Jose Avita Madrigales, 24, and Roberto Inzunza-Padilla, 26, who was arrested later and who police say was the dealer, were charged with trafficking in methamphetamine. They could face up to life in prison.
