The 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games begins in Boise on Feb. 7 and Olympics organizers still need “Host Town” volunteers.

Volunteers will provide authentic Idaho experiences for 40 international delegations whose members cannot participate in home stays due to overwhelming cultural differences.

Even though these athletes will be staying in hotels, they still want to get to know our area, as well as rest and get acclimated, through meals, low-key activities and transportation during the four days and three nights prior to the Games.

Volunteer hosts and their families will be able to meet athletes and enjoy the exchange of culture.

If you would like to participate in the games by welcoming a few delegate members, register online at the link to the right of this story. A couple of notes: choose zero for the bed count number when entering your information on the online form. Also, remember than everyone in volunteer households age 18 and over must sign separate waivers and release forms.
