Yard House might be a national chain, but its head-spinning beer selection is leaning more local.
The Village at Meridian restaurant recently added 31 new beers to its 140-tap system, including notable locals. Yard House has beers from eight Treasure Valley and McCall breweries, bar manager Bryan Christensen said.
“We added one from Salmon River. We added one from Boise Brewing. We added one from Woodland Empire. We added one from Edge. We already had local stuff in our repertoire, but then we added more local stuff on top of it.”
Customers don’t go to Yard House exclusively for local brews, though. They go for variety.
“It’s both, right?” Christensen agreed. “They want the local stuff, but if they want something far out, we’ve got that, too.”
“We’re just trying to stay current and stay up to date with what the consumer is really wanting,” he explained. “For example, right now sours are kind of hot, so we added three sours.
“We got this one, Stupid Silly Sour (from Brasserie de Silly in Belgium). It’s amazing. It’s like drinking a Warhead or something,” he adds, laughing. “It’s a really sour sour!”
Many Idahoans aren’t aware of Yard House’s happy hour, which Christensen describes as “pretty sweet.”
“We offer substantial discounts on our food and our beer,” he said.
Happy hour is 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Late-night happy hour is 9 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday.
