▪ Stone Brewing Co. and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. have collaborated to create NxS (North by South) IPA, a barrel-aged beer blended with a fresh, dry-hopped batch of the same brew. It’s being sold on tap and in 22-ounce bottles. These Boise events will feature NxS and other styles from the breweries:
Wednesday, Dec. 16: PreFunk, 1100 W. Front St. ’80s ski party theme. Barrel-aged beers to include Narwhal, Bigfoot. 6 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 17: The Front Door, 105 S. 6th St. Ugly sweater contest. Appetizer pairing. Barrel-aged beers. 6 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 18: Whole Foods River Room, 201 S. Broadway Ave. Gingerbread-house-building contest. $4 pours. Winning team gets swag and a round of beers. 5 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 19: Bier: Thirty, 3073 S. Bown Way. Sierra Nevada Chocolate Chili, Stone Xocoveza among beers poured. 11 a.m. until kegs kick.
▪ Taphouse, 760 W. Main St., hosts “Darkest Night Friday” on Friday, Dec. 11. Over 25 dark beers starting at 11 a.m. (e.g. Big Bad Baptist, Black Butte XXVI). At 6 p.m., additional beers (e.g. Bourbon County Brand Stout, Velvet Merkin) will be tapped.
▪ Boise Co-op, 888 W. Fort St., will have a “Longest Night Tap Takeover” starting at noon Saturday, Dec. 19. Beers: Bourbon County, Black Butte XXVII, Laughing Dog Dogfather, Southern Tier Choklat, Grand Teton Whiskey Barrel Aged Black Cauldron, Moylan’s Barrel Aged Ryan Sullivan’s Imperial Stout.
