COMICS
Does Statesman want comics or more ads?
We have started to notice more and more mini-comics in the Statesman.
First, it was the daily, with the bottom row taken up with an ad. One recent weekend, the entire back page was taken up with an ad. We either lose space or we lose comics readability to ads.
The Statesman needs to decide if it wants a comics page or another page for ads. The comics are the biggest reason we have a subscription. Decide quickly - our subscription renewal depends on what your answer is.

SCHOOL LOCKER ROOMS
Students need privacy from homosexuals
I'm writing on behalf and for the benefit of my children and students enrolled in the Meridian School District. I am a mother of seven children, six of whom are students attending Meridian schools in grades 3 through 12.
I'm sure the issue of same-sex relationships has been addressed - to what extent, I'm not aware. I am petitioning that individual curtains of some type be installed for students to change in privacy in the locker rooms located at the middle and high school grade levels. Students who are taking P.E. classes or are involved in after-school sports are required to dress down for these classes.
For example, in the Centennial girls' locker room, there are four stalls in which the students may change. However, there is only a short time allotted to the students before they receive a tardy slip.
There have been situations in which known lesbians are in the locker room at the same time as other girls, and this is a very uncomfortable situation for the girls. It's like allowing those of the opposite sex in the locker rooms.

JOSEPH DUNCAN
More death sentences would reduce crime
Regarding Jerry Lynton's letter, "Cold-blooded killer doesn't deserve a humane death" (Sept. 7): I agree, as most do. So why is our system the way it is? Joseph Duncan admitted to the crime. Kill him. Why does he have rights for appeals?
Tie him to a wagon wheel, over a fire, and rotate it until he dies. Slowly. A message to all the perverts, pedophiles, cold-blooded killers, rapists: Our country will not tolerate it, and these are consequences for one's actions.
Death row inmates should be put on a lottery system. Each day, one will be put to death. Who will be the first one on death row?
When we switch back to capital punishment, it will be amazing how many of these perverts are cured. No medicine, no therapy, just accountability for their actions.
For all of you bleeding-heart liberals, we could release death row inmates to you, so you can take care of them, and your family can give them all the rights you think they deserve.
Our system is allowing these people to be nonproducing parasites on our society, with free room and board, free medical care, free school. We have better things to spend our tax dollars on. Taxpayers get nothing free.
