Capital, Vallivue football teams win, remain undefeated

Capital raised its overall record to 6-0 by defeating Centennial 25-0 in a wild 5A SIC Division 2 high school football game Friday night.

Centennial snapped the ball over the punter's head twice for second-quarter safeties, Capital's Eric Niblett returned the kickoff from the first safety 78 yards for a touchdown and the Eagles remained undefeated after three league games.

Capital takes on Vallivue - also undefeated after a 49-41 nonconference victory over Lake City - in a key league showdown Thursday night at Bronco Stadium.

VALLIVUE 49, LAKE CITY 41

Senior running back Chase Christoffersen ran for 246 yards and two touchdowns to lead Vallivue past Lake City in Coeur d'Alene. Adam McLinn added two touchdowns and quarterback J.J. Hyde threw three TD passes and rushed for a score for the Falcons.

MERIDIAN 39, CALDWELL 21

Meridian quarterback Kevin Hallock threw for 134 yards and two TDs to lead Meridian past Caldwell in a 5A SIC game. It was the first league win for the defending state champions. Blaze Montgomery added two rushing touchdowns for Meridian, which scored 24 straight points in the second quarter.

KUNA 23, SKYVIEW 16

Brandon Delao rushed for 114 yards and Kuna used a pair of return touchdowns to knock off Skyview in a 4A SIC game. Kuna's Scott Simpson returned a first-quarter interception 24 yards for a TD, and Chase Hathorne returned a kickoff 94 yards for another score.

FRUITLAND 45, HOMEDALE 7

Caleb Crim ran for 122 yards and a TD on five carries and Fruitland beat Homedale in a 3A SRV game. Fruitland and Payette, which was idle Friday, are 2-0 heading into next week's league showdown.

WEISER 29, MCCALL 0

Trent Winegar ran for 179 yards and a TD, Trent Coleman caught two passes from Garth Eisenbarth for 62 yards and Weiser picked up a 3A Snake River Valley home victory.

SALMON RIVER 62, GREENLEAF 0

Junior tailback Dustin Rinker ran for 105 yards and two TDs as the Savages beat Greenleaf in a 1A Division II matchup.

NOTUS 66, CASCADE 20

Kerby Andersen ran for 131 yards and two TDs as Notus rolled past Cascade in a 1A Division I game. Ryan Vibbert added 119 yards and two TDs on the ground for the Pirates.

MIDDLETON 9, EMMETT 7

Erik Foreman kicked the winning field goal with 28 seconds remaining.

MARSING 28, COLE VALLEY 21

Sean Finley ran for two TDs - including the game-winner late in the game - and threw a TD pass to lead Marsing past Cole Valley in a 2A WIC game.
