NAMPA - Nampa High quarterback Quaid Morris was feeling the pressure Friday.

The senior was sacked six times for a loss of 57 yards, but the Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter to secure a 24-14 win over Skyview in both teams' 4A Southern Idaho Conference season opener.

"That's a tough Skyview Hawk football team," Morris said. "They came to the gaps hard."

Morris and the Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0 4A SIC) needed a big fourth quarter to fend off the Hawks' upset bid.

Nampa trailed 14-6 with 12 minutes to play before staging a comeback.

The rally started on the last play of the third quarter, when Morris used a 30-yard keeper to put the Bulldogs on the Skyview 46-yard line.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, senior running back Cole Rivera cruised 46 yards for a touchdown to pull the Bulldogs to within 14-12.

Morris added a 46-yard touchdown run of his own, faking a handoff to Rivera and running up the middle untouched for the score and an 18-14 lead.

"We stayed positive, real positive," Rivera said. "Our line was blowing up holes in the second half.

"We came out slow in the first half, but (in the) second half the coaches talked to us and we made some adjustments and came out and just hit it."

Morris finished off the scoring for the Bulldogs with a 15-yard touchdown pass to junior receiver Josh Seward with 2:50 left in the game.

"They beat us on three plays," Skyview coach David Young said. "That was all it was in that fourth quarter. We make a stop or just hold and we're good. Hats off to them, they made the plays when they needed to."

It was the 13th consecutive loss for the Hawks (0-3, 0-1 4A SIC).

Skyview set the tone in the first half, as Morris was hit hard on Nampa's third play of the game. Six-foot, 225-pound Skyview linebacker Josh Sukeena sacked Morris so soundly the ball came loose, setting up a Skyview possession from Nampa's 37-yard line.

It was one of three sacks by the Hawks in the first half.

Senior running back Spencer Kindall scored both of the Hawks' touchdowns.

The first was on a 26-yard run down the right side of the field in which he broke two tackles and the second was on a 1-yard dive. Both of the Hawks' TDs came in the third quarter.

Rivera led Nampa on the ground with 133 yards on 26 attempts, while Kindall paced the Hawks with 155 yards on 18 carries.
