Idaho Botanical Garden, 2355 N. Penitentiary Road, Boise. General admission: $4 general, $3 seniors and $2 ages 6 to 12, free for 5 and younger and members.

The seeds were planted in 1984. Now, the Idaho Botanical Garden burgeons with dark evergreens and heritage roses, the delicate beauty of alpine meadows and breezy high-desert grasses over its 16 landscaped acres. But this is more than just a garden. If you haven't gotten to know this remarkable resource, this weekend is the perfect time to get acquainted as the garden orchestrates a celebration for its 25th anniversary.

® On Friday, June 26, fall under the spell of the Enchanted Garden Gala. It is a tasting menu served in several outdoor living environments created by area decorators. Stroll from place to place while enjoying chef Bill Green's cuisine, selections from Idaho wines and music from the Frim Fram Four and Amy Weber. Artist Ward Hooper will unveil four new posters to commemorate the anniversary. $100 (space is limited), includes a $35 membership.

® On Saturday, June 27, a Garden Party features folk duo Blaze & Kelly in the English Garden, 7 to 9 p.m. and then cool jazz from the Jon Bonine Quartet in the Meditation Garden, 9 to 11 p.m. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Beer and wine will be for sale with complimentary appetizers by Chef Green. $40, includes a membership to the garden.

® On Sunday, June 28, bring kids down for family day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with music by Steve Eaton and a pancake brunch from 10 a.m. to noon. $5 for adults, free for kids 12 and younger with regular admission. There also will be games, a jump house and a chance to explore the Children's Garden.
