Huh? An influential emo band paired up with ’90s radio-rockers? Yep. Matching groups with different fan demographics is becoming popular in the concert world. “Someone suggested why don’t we package up with Third Eye Blind and make it what they call a ‘summer event,’ ” Dashboard Confessional frontman Chris Carrabba told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re from two different musical generations, but I thought it was a good overlap having known the band and liked the band, seeing my band’s T-shirts at their shows.” Third Eye Blind just released its first album in six years, “Dopamine.” You probably won’t hear new material from Dashboard, though — just old faves such as “Screaming Infidelities,” “Hands Down” and “Vindicated.”
