1. RELAX WITH A BREW
Thirsty? It’s a brew festival blitz Saturday.
1) IPA junkies have gotta love Beer Wars from 4 to 10 p.m. in the parking lot next to 10 Barrel Brewing Co. You can blind taste 30 IPAs from four states from 4 to 7 p.m. (see photo above). From 7 to 10 p.m., they reveal the beers’ identities and hand over the stage to Salt Lake City band Hectic Hobo.
2) Over at North End brewpub Highlands Hollow from noon to 8 p.m., there’s the dog-friendly B’Arc & Brew, which will feature live music and beers from five local breweries and two out-of-staters.
Never miss a local story.
3) Lastly, a miniature, fresh-hop-leaning version of Alefort will be held at the Boise Farmers Market from 3 to 8 p.m.
2. SMANG IT
If you’re familiar with comedy-rap collective Turquoise Jeep’s 2010 viral sensation, “Lemme Smang It,” than I shall say no more than this: Turquoise Jeep will perform Friday at Neurolux. You. Must. Attend. If you’re unfamiliar, well, witness genius below. [Tickets]
3. CELEBRATE OKTOBERFEST
First, let me introduce you to zany Boise band Wolfie and the Bavarians. They’ll perform at two Oktoberfest celebrations this weekend in Boise: Friday and Saturday at Tres Bonne Cuisine, and Saturday in Old Boise.
4. HIT A FILM FEST
5. GET THE BLUES
Music will fill the air Saturday afternoon at Blues at the Flats, a chance to enjoy the serene outdoor atmosphere of Crooked Flats in Eagle. Five bands will perform at the event, which runs from 2 to 8 p.m. Kids 12 and younger get in free.
