Main Street Bistro owner Ted Challenger says he plans to reopen the space in mid-April.
He says the new bar will have "multiple elements." The Bistro had grown stale, he says, and he wants to reinvent the space into "something I can be excited about."
Never miss a local story.
Downtown bar Main Street Bistro shut its doors this week after a final blowout on St. Patrick's Day.
Plans are for the space to reopen with a makeover, but there's been no indication when that will happen.
"We've been open for 25 years," owner Ted Challenger said in a Facebook video. "It's time to do something different. Main Street Bistro has run its course."
"I think you'll like what's coming," he added.
The Bistro is a rite of passage for Boise bargoers in their early 20s. On Facebook, commenters shared colorful, diverse opinions about the closure.
I've reached out to Challenger. I'll update this post if I get more information about a target date to reopen.
