1. ADOPT A ‘CAN DO’ ATTITUDE
Idaho brewers love beer in cans. And they're celebrating Saturday, Jan. 24. Why? Because it's Beer Can Appreciation Day. Why pay tribute to beer in cans? Well, partly because cans are durable — which prevents videos like the one below.
2. WALK IN THE PARK
Tired of dirty ice and freezing inversions? Bring a picnic to Edwards Greenhouse's Pop-Up Park, which debuts Saturday, Jan. 24, and runs through Valentine’s Day. It’s warm. It’s spring-like. Plus, there’s tea, coffee and chocolate-bar action from St(r)eam Coffee & Tea.
Never miss a local story.
3. HIT THE REEF
Boise band Edmond Dantes will get the dance floor moving Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Reef, but they’re not the only Idaho-linked act on the bill. Quirky, likeable singer-songwriter Korby Lenker, who was raised in Twin Falls, opens the $5 evening.
4. GET DUNKED
Florida-based comedian Duncan Jay has gigged all over the place — “even Boise,” as he points out on Facebook. (What the hell is that supposed to mean, dude? Does Obama hang out in your town?) He’s headlining all weekend at Liquid Laughs, and he'd better be funny, dammit.
5. HIT A HIGH NOTE
Remember the old WilliB’s Saloon at 225 N. 5th St. in Downtown Boise? No? That’s prolly why they moved. ANYWAY, the latest tenant in the small space was a huge surprise for the Idaho Statesman's restaurant critic. The High Note Café is an unexpected gem.
