1. ROCK CELTIC-STYLE
Punk with pennywhistle brings out the Irish in all of us. Few bands do it better than Boston’s Dropkick Murphys, who will unleash the Guinness floodgates Saturday at The Knitting Factory. You might remember this song from Martin Scorsese's “The Departed.”
2. BE CARTOONISH
Celebrate anime and Asian pop culture at the seventh annual Tomodachi Fest. It happens today through Sunday at the Boise Hotel and Conference Center (where, incidentally, they serve a mean slab of steer at Castle Ranch Steakhouse). You’ll find guest speakers, panels, workshops, entertainment, vendors and more. (What the hell is anime, you ask? This stuff.)
Never miss a local story.
3. GET SCARED
October is here, which means commercial haunted houses are rolling out. No Treasure Valley terror destination beats The Haunted World in Nampa. It's all about the costume accessories. (Do the words "Stihl" or "Husqvarna" mean anything to you?)
4. WOOF IT
Controlled canine chaos. That’s my alliterative description of See Spot Walk, the annual pooch parade at Boise’s Julia Davis Park. Take Fido out for some action Saturday morning. You can still sign up.
5. GO ON A QUEST
If you have little ones in the house who are infatuated with dinosaurs, Ford Idaho Center has your answer: Jurassic Quest on Saturday and Sunday. [Tickets] Just understand exactly what it is before you go, Dad, so your expectations are reasonable.
