1. PARTY ON TWO WHEELS
When you join the festivities Saturday at Tour de Fat, you’re not just having a ball. You’re supporting Boise’s inclusive bike culture and exceptional trail systems, which are a huge part of why this is such a great place to live. So go — with or without your bike. And prepare to make friends.
2. HIT THE FAIR
Come on, elitists, you know you’re gonna to wind up at the Western Idaho Fair at some point. So you might as well check out this guide to the good stuff — like the “lobster corn dog.” (Actually, I have no idea if it’s any good, but hey )
Never miss a local story.
3. SIP VINO
OK, fine, so you really are an elitist and aren’t getting anywhere near those wretched fairgrounds. Fine. Join the folks discussing grapes at WineFest this evening at the Basque Block. All proceeds benefit the Basque Museum.
4. GET STARSTRUCK
Join the Boise Astronomical Society (dudes, what is up with your unearthly website?) Saturday night for their annual Star Party at Bogus Basin. Members will set up their telescopes to provide views of all sorts of visual sky candy — most not visible to the naked eye.
5. TAKE A VOYAGE
Singer Jenny Lewis has a new album called “The Voyager,” and it’s more like her work in Rilo Kiley than any of her prior solo albums. Fans are understandably stoked about Lewis' show Sunday at the Knitting Factory. [Tickets]
