One of the nice things about having Salt Lake City nearby is that it helps Boise pick up concert dates.
Acts that perform at the high-quality Red Butte Garden summer concert series already are in the region, so it occasionally makes sense to stop in the Treasure Valley, too. (Assuming that promoters here make an acceptable offer.)
Jam-friendly Australian roots band The John Butler Trio is one of those acts. The group will perform Thursday, Aug. 7, at the 2,000-capacity Eagle Park Pavilion, aka Reid W. Merrill Sr. Community Park, 637 E. Shore Drive.
It's the third show announced at that location this summer. Jazz guitarist Pat Metheny and singer-keyboardist Bruce Hornsby are slated to kick off the new "Music in the Park" series with a co-headlining show July 22. Country singer Trace Adkins has been booked there July 24.
Never miss a local story.
Tickets for the John Butler Trio go on sale for $29.50 at 10 a.m. May 23 at Ticketfly.
Now if Boise could just pick up a few more of those Red Butte shows. Jason Isbell, come on down, man!
