1. STEP ON IT
Ready to spend the entire weekend partying at Downtown Boise bar Neurolux? Catch electronica-tinged singer-songwriter William Fitzimmons on Oct. 16. Bang your head with Idaho’s own Shook Twins on Oct. 17. Finish your weekend rocking to New York neo-shoegazers DIIV on Oct. 18. Phew. [Tickets]
Never miss a local story.
2. GET FRESH
Newsflash: There are too many run-of-the-mill brew festivals in Boise. Hoptober Freshtival, which I preview in my “Tapped In” beer column this week, is not one of those. If you’re a hop head, this Oct. 17 bash is a must-do.
3. CATCH FIRE
If you lived any portion of your child or adult life in the 1970s, you heard “Wildfire” on the radio. Or maybe you saw Michael Martin Murphey perform it on “Letterman” in 2007 (see below). Whatever the case, you can bet he’ll sing that classic at his two performances Oct. 17 at the Sapphire Room. [Tickets] (Next up: Griffin House on Oct. 20 and Melissa Manchester on Oct. 23 and 24.)
4. KID AROUND
Have your rugrats been hitting the video games too hard lately? Get their neurons firing productively again at the hands-on Kids Discovery Expo on Oct. 17 at Expo Idaho. The more than 50 exhibits target newborns up to age 13.
5. TAKE A SPIN
Streaming music? Not around here, pal. Vinyl collectors will raise a fist triumphantly Oct. 17 at El Korah Shrine. It’s the eighth annual Boise Record Show & Swap.
