1. WALK THE DOG
Thousands of pooches and their owners will converge on Julia Davis Park on Saturday morning for the Idaho Humane Society’s annual See Spot Walk. (Leave the cat home. She’ll probably be tailgating at the Boise State-Hawaii football game, anway.)
Never miss a local story.
2. SLAY A BARBARIAN
By “slay,” I mean pound. OK, sip enthusiastically. Garden City’s newest brewery, Barbarian, opens its tap room on Saturday. You also can get a sneak preview from 6-10 p.m. Friday at PreFunk beer bar, 1100 W. Front St., during a tap takeover.
3. LAUGH AT PORTLAND
With Portland. Sorry. (Except for the hipsters. Go ahead and laugh at them.) Portland comedian Sean Jordan headlines all weekend at Liquid Laughs. [Tickets] The guy gets big props locally. Incidentally, judging from the bit about fighting below, he’s probably not this dude.
4. CELEBRATE FALL
The Idaho Botanical Garden isn’t just a beautiful place to sightsee in the fall. It’s also a place to party Saturday and Sunday during the Fall Harvest Festival.
5. TRY TO TOP ZZ
Multiple club concerts beckon this weekend (including post-rockers Caspian, who will perform Saturday at Neurolux). But it will be hard to beat Sunday at the Knitting Factory. Big-voiced singer ZZ Ward will aim to rock the house. (Even acoustic, she oozes soul. Check the vid below.)
