Idaho Writers Guild Literary Luncheon: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, The Riverside Hotel, 2900 Chinden Blvd., Boise. Kurt Zwolfer, the new executive director of The Cabin, will speak about the history of The Cabin, its current programming, his philosophy and vision for the future, and how writers can be involved with The Cabin. Sharon Robinson author event: 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy, 516 S. 9th St., Boise. Sharon Robinson will read from and talk about her new book “The Hero Two Doors Down.” Robinson is the daughter of Jackie Robinson, the first black man in Major League baseball. Free.

Robin Lee Hatcher author event: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, Garden City Library, 6015 Glenwood St. Robin Lee Hatcher, a Boise resident, is the author of more than 70 novels and novellas and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Romance Writers of America and the American Christian Fiction Writers.
Writing Workshop: 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, Boise Public Library, main branch, 715 S. Capitol Blvd. This is a hands-on program for adult writers who want to share and discuss their work.
Literature in Translation: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, Boise Public Library, Hillcrest branch, 5246 Overland Road. A book club focusing on foreign literature that has been translated into English. This month’s book: “Apothecary Melchior and the Mystery of St. Olaf’s Church” by Indrek Hargla.
BBQ Bash for Books: 6-9 p.m. Saturday, May 21, Legacy Courtyard at the Garden City Library. Live auction, door prizes, raffle and music. $25 per person, adults only. Tickets may be purchased at the library website, notaquietlibrary.org, at the library, or at the door the night of the even. All proceeds support the library’s programs, including the mobile literacy “Bells for Books.”
