Creative Writing Workshop: Monday, Aug. 31, 6 p.m., Meridian Library, Cherry Lane. Come join a group of fellow writers to collaborate, critique and create together at Meridian Library. We’ll read some professional work, share our own writing and hear from local authors about the unique experience of creative writers today. Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided.

First Thursday Writing Reading: Thursday, Sept. 3, 6:30 p.m., Boise Public Library, main branch. If you are a writer, or a fan of local work, please join us for our second annual First Thursday Writing Reading. Fiction (flash fiction, short story, novel excerpt), nonfiction (micro-memoir, personal essay, memoir excerpt), and poetry are welcome. Each person will have up to seven minutes to read. Please arrive between 6 and 6:30 p.m. if you’d like to add your name to the reading list. Participants will be asked to read in random order.
