Van den Berg is the writer-in-residence at Bard College. She won an O. Henry Award and the Bard Fiction Prize in 2014. Her short-story collection “The Isle of Youth” landed her near the top of many 2013 “Best Of” lists, including National Public Radio and The Boston Globe.
Chu is an editor-at-large at Fast Company, a publication that focuses on innovation in technology, ethical economics, leadership and design. Chu covers international affairs, social issues and design. This is his second appearance at Storyfort. Last year he read from and spoke about his book “Does Jesus Really Love Me?: A Gay Christian’s Pilgrimage in Search of God in America.”
Storyfort will happen March 27-29 at a venue still to be determined during the Treefort Festival that happens March 25-29. Other speakers will include Boise author, blogger and mental health advocate Liza Long, Alabama-based poet Abraham Smith, Portland-based poet Tyler Brewington and Boise poet Adrian Kien.
You’ll also hear performances by nationally know slam poets Steven Mead and Julia Gaskill and members of Boise’s Story Story Night.
All Storyfort events will be free to Treefort pass holders and when available to the general public.
