After going on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Jan. 16, both performances for the national tour of the Abba musical “Mamma Mia!” at the Morrison Center nearly sold out before noon. The March 18 show is completely gone and currently there are only six single seats left for the March 17 performance.
“We love our ‘Mamma Mia,’ says director of ticketing relations Deborah Eidson. “I wish we had more shows this time.”
“Mamma Mia!” is an add-on to the regular Broadway in Boise season and was first available for subscribers to purchase. By the time the general on-sale happened, there were only a few hundred tickets left for each performance.
“Mamma Mia!” features 20 Abba songs, including, “Dancing Queen,” “Take A Chance on Me,” “The Winner Takes it All,” “SOS” and, of course, “Mamma Mia!”
It tells the story of Sophie, a young woman about to get married and who wants to know who her father is. You see, she was raised by her single mom, Donna, who was once the center chick in one of the most popular girl groups of the 1970s. The problem is mom's not that sure who it is. There are three perspective Dads in her past and Donna is unaware that Sophie has invited all three to the wedding. Mamma mia!
This is the third time the touring production has played the Morrison Center since 2005.
Here's the info if you want one of those six tickets: “Mamma Mia!”: 7:30 p.m. March 17-18, Morrison Center, 2201 Cesar Chavez Lane, Boise. $40, $50, $55 and $60. Boise State Tickets.
