This weekend will give you a taste of what’s to come as the holidays approach. Take note: There are only six more weeks (that’s 42 shopping days) until Christmas.
▪ The Christmas season hits Boise Towne Square, 350 Milwaukee St., first this year with Santa’s arrival at noon Nov. 14. After that, you can see him from noon to closing daily through Dec. 24. Avoid the lines and book time with Mr. Claus at BoiseTowneSquare.com. Just pre-pay for your photos and save 30 percent (regularly $35, includes print and digital), and you’ll get a fast-line pass. Also, check out Pet Nights for dogs and cats with Santa, 6 p.m. to closing on Mondays from Nov. 16 to Dec. 14 (leashes and crates required). And starting Nov. 16, Mrs. Claus will hold story time from 1-2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
▪ If the cold weather holds, The Village at Meridian, 3600 E. Fairview Ave., will open its ice skating rink, pictured right, Nov. 13. St. Nick will start his gig at The Village on Nov. 21. You can see him from noon to 7 p.m. daily. Photo packages run $10-$43.
▪ Start your holiday shopping with a local focus. The Capital City Holiday Market is in full swing on 8th Street from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 19. The Capital Market also has an indoor shop at Vista Village, 1036 Vista Ave., in the former Idaho Camera spot. It’s open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays, then daily from Friday, Nov. 27, until Dec. 24. The Boise Farmers Market is now inside at the Idaho Linen Supply Warehouse at 8th and Fulton streets and runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
