Jacksons Food Stores and the Idaho Partners Against Domestic Violence launched a holiday season campaign on Thursday to raise money for the prevention of domestic violence and dating violence.

Jacksons CEO John Jackson said he will match contributions dollar for dollar up to $25,000.

Through the “Give the Gift of Peace” campaign, customers can purchase a paper dove for $1 at any Jacksons Food Store.

Last year, Jacksons customers in Idaho contributed more than $25,000 through the purchase of the doves.

The Idaho Partners Against Domestic Violence will distribute the funds to the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence for a teen dating violence prevention project and to Idaho Legal Aid Services and the Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program to provide free legal assistance to Idaho victims of domestic violence. “John Jackson’s support, and his willingness to bring the needs of domestic violence victims to the attention of his customers, is tremendously important to our efforts to help domestic violence victims,” said Idaho Chief Justice Daniel Eismann in a statement.

Jacksons Food Stores Inc., headquartered in Meridian, was founded in Idaho in 1975 as a single service station. It has grown to more than 214 stores in four Western states. The company is the sixth largest privately held corporation in Idaho.

Tax-deductible contributions to the Idaho Partners Against Domestic Violence can also be made by logging on to www.idahopartners.org.
