Idaho foreclosure filings were up 121 percent in July from a year ago, giving the state the 15th highest foreclosure-filing rate in the nation, according to industry statistics released this week.
RealtyTrac, an Irvine, Calif.-based research company that monitors foreclosures nationwide, said the 936 filings in Idaho last month were 41 percent ahead of the totals for June 2007 and represented one filing for 658 homes in the state.
Some homes for which filings are made do not end up as foreclosures, because other arrangements between homeowners and lenders can be worked out. Of the 513 filings last month, 314 were notices of default, which is the first step in the foreclosure process. An additional 314 were notices of trustee sales, and 109 were properties that were repossessed by the lender.
