Boise State is headed to the WAC Tournament championship for the first time in school history after beating Utah State 1-0 on Friday in a semifinal at the Boas Soccer Complex.

The Broncos (12-6-4 overall) will play Nevada (9-11) at 1 p.m. Sunday for the right to represent the WAC in the NCAA Tournament.

"It's a little bit overwhelming right now but in a good way," Boise State coach Steve Lucas said. "We're excited, but we still want to win this thing."

Freshman Erica Parks, who is from Nampa, split two defenders to score the lone goal of the game and lift the third-seeded Broncos over No. 2 seed Utah State.

"There weren't a lot of chances, and Erica did a great job of finishing," Lucas said. "It came at the perfect time."

Boise State had four shots on goal compared to just one for the Aggies. Liz Ruiz made the save and got the shutout for the Broncos.

Lucas' team has won five matches in a row and has set a school record for wins. One more victory will put BSU in the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

BSU beat Nevada 2-0 on Oct. 11 in the only meeting between the teams this year. Fourth-seeded Nevada beat top-seeded San Jose State 2-1 in overtime Friday to advance to the title game.

"They're a good team and have won some big ones," Lucas said. "We're going to have to be ready to go. We've got to stick with what got us here and that's focus on playing like it's just another game."
