Soon "green" vehicles may be able to park free at Downtown Boise parking meters.

On Tuesday, the Boise City Council will consider an ordinance to create a "green" vehicle parking permit for electric or zero-emission vehicles.

The permit would cost $10, and vehicles displaying the permit could park in metered spaces without charge.

Drivers would be required to comply with any time restrictions on the meter or be subject to a $20 fine.
