Boise's new Department of Arts and History will be headed by Terri Schorzman, communications director for the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho.
Schorzman, a former program director at the Smithsonian Institution, was selected by Boise Mayor Dave Bieter from a pool of more than 50 applicants. The City Council will consider her appointment Sept. 16.
Schorzman is a Boise native who returned to the city in 1995 after managing cultural programs at the state and federal levels.
"Terri has the rare mix of strong leadership skills and an excellent artistic sensibility," Bieter said.
