The Bureau of Land Management has launched an enhanced online image library featuring thousands of digital photographs of landscapes and historical images of the American West, including Idaho.
The library contains more than 60,000 images of public lands, mostly in 12 Western states, including national monuments, national conservation areas and popular recreation areas.
The historical photos include some that date to the early surveys of the West.
The collection also includes images of the various resources that BLM manages, including grazing livestock, mineral development, energy production, wild horses and burros and cultural sites.
Many of the images are considered public domain, according to the BLM. There is no cost to download the public domain images, and they may be used without further authorization from the BLM.
