Firefighters from Eagle and Boise toe the line in the First Responders Team Challenge, one of the races in the Main Street Mile. "I'm a firefighter; I'm competitive," says Eagle firefighter Kelse Backen, the first firefighter to cross the finish line a mile later. "Having fitness is really important to life and to our jobs." With an emphasis on creating awareness of prostate cancer, the Main Street Mile has contributed $195,000 and more than 2,500 free exams over the last five years.
