JULIA DAVIS PARK
CAPITOL BOULEVARD AND BOISE RIVER, BOISE
There aren't many places where you can listen to a concert, see a monkey, cast for a trout, jump on a paddle boat, walk among ducks and geese (and step in goose poop), play tennis, have a picnic and learn about history.
That's what's so special about Julia Davis Park, an 89-acre park, which is the hub of cultural activity in Boise. There's a rose garden and a museum, too.
(Thirsty? It's also close to two brew pubs.)
Some history: It was Boise's first public park, which got its start in 1907 when Tom and Julia Davis gave 40 acres of their riverfront farm to the city.
The Boise Greenbelt path goes along the park's shoreline on the Boise River.
Amenities include: Boise Art Museum, Discovery Center of Idaho, Idaho Black History Museum, Idaho Human Rights Education Center, Idaho State Historical Museum and Zoo Boise.
