A 46-year-old Garden City man was arrested Monday, suspected of running his pickup truck into a person who was trying to repossess the vehicle.
Earle Edward Vine was expected to be booked into the Ada County Jail Monday night on charges of aggravated battery and eluding a police officer, police said.
Garden City Police report that two men were attempting to repossess the pickup from Vine when he became violent and drove away dragging one of the agents and ultimately hitting him with the back tires of the truck.
The repossession agent was taken to a local hospital, where he was still being treated Monday night, according to police.
Garden City police observed a pickup truck driving recklessly and too fast for conditions about 3:50 p.m. and attempted to stop the truck. But the pickup driver continued to drive fast and recklessly, so the officer discontinued pursuit because of public safety concerns.
Meanwhile, officers were dispatched to East 43rd in Garden City for a report of an injured person the repo man.
About the same time, a hit-and-run accident was reported at 36th and Sunset in Boise, and the description of the vehicle matched the fleeing truck. The truck had crashed into a light pole, and witnesses pointed officers in the direction of the driver. The suspect was identified as Vine.
The case is still under investigation, and additional charges may be filed, police said. Vine is expected to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ada County Courthouse.
