Prep football 7-on-7 passing tournament begins Friday

BOISE - The fourth annual Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Football Challenge is Friday and Saturday at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex on Hill Road, and includes a 7-on-7 passing tournament, lineman's challenge and tug-of-war competition.

Friday's pool play for the 7-on-7 tournament runs from 9 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m.

Saturday's single-elimination games begin at 8:30 a.m., and the varsity championship game is scheduled for 12:20 p.m.

The lineman's challenge (9-11:40 a.m.) and tug-of-war (noon) also are Saturday.

Rules for the 7-on-7 tournament include 15-minute halves, no pads, no defensive rushes and a 3.5-second time limit for quarterback passing.

High schools competing are Battle Mountain (Nev.), Bishop Kelly, Boise, Borah, Capital, Century, Cole Valley Christian, Eagle, Emmett, Fruitland, Jerome, Highland, Lake City, Meridian, Mountain View, Skyview and Vallivue.
